The latest version of the i.d. mate Quest bar code scanner has a number of new technology features on board that makes it easier for the blind and visually impaired to identify a broad range of items from groceries and medicines  to music and clothing.

The new features include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity with direct access to numerous internet resources;  MP3 capability for music access and audio storage; on-board camera  for remote ID of items;  international time and date information and instant software updates, in an all-in-one, lightweight portable package. The device is pre-loaded with over two million barcodes and labels are provided for items without barcodes. It uses text-to-speech and digital voice recording  to access items with a simple scan of a barcode.
