Lake Macquarie City Council in NSW is running a one-day event for seniors on mobility scooter safety. To be held on February 28, it is part of the council’s annual seniors program targeting people who own, or are thinking about buying a mobility scooter or wheelchair, to help them stay independent.
The session will cover information on road safety, licence requirements, the importance of brain fitness, choosing the right scooter and scooter maintenance. Participants will also have the opportunity to test drive the vehicles in a range of situations. Around 230,000 Australians are now using mobility devices.
