The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) has updated its Covid measures to ensure NDIS participants and providers continue to be supported, reflecting the health risks many people with disability still face.

Among the updated temporary measures are:

  • The inclusion of portable air purifiers
  • The extension of workforce support arrangements, to January 31, 2023 to provide additional cover over the Christmas and New Year period
  • Changes to support measures for Supported Independent Living providers, with claims for additional supports moving from $1,200 per participant per day to $1,200 per household per day where a participant is required to self-isolate or quarantine.

In other news, NDIS hospitals patients will get a faster discharge following the addition of extra specialised hospital discharge planners and hospital liaison officers now working in hospitals across the country.

The number of NDIS participants waiting in hospitals has been reduced by more than 300 since the government introduced improved data collection in August.

The NDIA will also fund interim plans that include medium term accommodation where applicable.
