Achieve Australia and Accessible Arts are running with an inclusive art competition across six categories: drawing, painting, mixed media, 3D art, photography and textiles. The winners of each category will receive a $1000 gift voucher to spend at an online arts store and mentoring with a professional artist.
You can enter up to three categories, submitting one artwork per category. To enter, create a piece of art, take four photos or create a short video of your artwork, and submit your artwork/s via the Artful website.
Submissions close August 31.
Accessible Arts is also presenting two workshops in October. Creating Inclusive Workplaces is a new workshop with specialised, disability-led training. The session will cover legislation, access riders, reasonable adjustments, funding, access responsibilities and recruitment processes. Through practical examples, tips and tricks, it will help organisations to confidently identify and remove access barriers to create an inclusive workplace which benefits everyone.
It will be held on October 10 from 10am – 11.30am.
A 10% discount applies for bookings for three or more people.
The free Professional Development Workshop is designed to upskill artists and arts workers with disability or who are d/Deaf on generating access riders. The online session covers:
- The models of disability
- The rights of people with disability or who are d/Deaf
- Self-Advocacy
- Reasonable adjustments
- How to negotiate and have reasonable adjustments met
- Examples of reasonable adjustments, example scenario.
It will be held on October 17 from 10am – 11.30am
