The University of Sydney is inviting artists with disability to enter the ‘Dreams and Debuts’ Amateur Art Competition, a platform that illuminates the talents of artists with disabilities.
It aspires to unveil dreams of the future, personal or universal, challenging or inspiring, envisioned by artists whose perspectives have been shaped by their lived experiences of disability. This could be a new experience, a challenge completed, a goal being set, or a possibility being formed, on either a personal or public level.
Presented by the Centre for Disability Research and Policy and the Disability at Work Network, the competition is free to enter.
The winner will receive $1,000, two runners-up will each receive $450 and the winner of the People’s Choice award, receives $200.
Artworks from selected finalists will be shown at the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney, Susan Wakil Health Building in December.
The competition closes on October 30.
