The University of Sydney is conducting a project that is exploring the workplace experiences of creative arts practitioners who are currently leading or facilitating, or, within the last five years led or facilitated arts programs for individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities, other cognitive disabilities or neurodivergence.
The project takes a broad view of what a creative arts practitioner is, which may be a formal or informal role in the creative or expressive arts discipline.
Exclusion criteria are:
- Those under 18
- Who work only with people who have other types of disability, and not with people with developmental or intellectual disabilities, or other cognitive disabilities or neurodivergence
- Who work as an art/s teacher or educator in a primary or secondary school setting
- Use art for therapy (as an art therapist, music therapist, use art to facilitate increased movement or communication) rather than art for art’s sake (as a creative expression).
The study includes an initial survey that takes about 30 minutes to complete with the option of a follow up interview.
