Award-winning disability advocate Anja Christoffersen will appear at the Brisbane Disability Expo next month.

The 2023 International Day of People with Disability ambassador, model, author, and social entrepreneur will take to the main stage on opening day to share her story and insights.

Who is Anja?

Anja was born with VACTERL Association, a condition that affects one in 10,000 to 40,000 babies. VACTERL affects multiple body systems. She was diagnosed at just 28 weeks, during her mother’s pregnancy.

According to Anja, there was no known cause or guarantee of survival, and she underwent her first surgery at just five hours old.

Fast forward to today, and Anja derives purpose from her disability, as she works to improve equity and quality of life for other people with disability and chronic illness. She founded Champion Health Agency, a world-first ‘lived experience talent agency’ that represents people with disability, chronic illness and carers and links them with meaningful opportunities to create positive change through their lived experience.

Anja is a passionate advocate for disability rights, a motivational speaker, and an inspiring role model who has recently founded WDEN – a new business that helps women with disability develop their business ideas and work with mentors within the network to project them on their entrepreneurial journey.
