Two resolute travellers with cerebral palsy, Maria and Lindsay Dalmon, have embarked on 37 years of global adventures from a road trip to Ayers Rock (Uluru) in1987 to a New Zealand cruise in 2023. In a new book, The Intrepid Wheelies, Marie Dalmon takes you through their experiences, 23 of them in their wheelchairs.
“England is our favourite destination as everything was so accessible,” Marie told F2L, at the launch of the book in Sydney. Difficulties with flying has put paid to future flights but cruising has become a welcome alternative with another trip to New Zealand planned to celebrate Marie’s birthday.
These passionate advocates for disability inclusion and accessibility continue to pursue their love of sailing with Sailability Pittwater in Sydney competing in many national and international events. They climbed Mt Kosciuszko, have wheeled across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and taken to indoor skydiving.
There is no stopping this inspiring and truly intrepid couple with their many journeys documented and illustrated in the book along with the ups and downs of travelling with a disability.
