Carers around the country are about to get more recognition in the community with the first National Carers Awards. A joint initiative of Carers Australia, Life Without Barriers and Families Australia, the awards are designed to bring attention to the work carers do in the community.
A winner will be chosen from each of the four categories: Young Carers, Foster & Kinship Carers, Aged Carers and Disability Carers.
The Australian Government is contributing $50,000 to help establish and provide general support for the awards. Nominations close on September 21 and winners will be announced at the National Carer Conference on the Gold Coast in November.
