ATSA-Independent-Living-Expo-Logo_ver2There will be plenty to see and hear at the ATSA Independent Living Expos in Brisbane and Sydney. The events will be brimming with information on all aspects of the disability sector with over 100 exhibitors of new products and services.

The free clinical education program includes a full speaker circuit with international and local experts. Speaking at both expos is Joan Padgett who will discuss the body of evidence supporting how orthotic based seating helps protect skin, improves stability and manages the effects of heat and moisture.

Another speaker at both events is occupational therapist Kristee Shepherd from Making Strides spinal cord injury recovery centre. The centre is the exclusive distributor of the ReWalk exoskeleton mobility solution. The system uses computer controls and motion sensors to assist those with lower-limb disabilities to stand and walk indoors and outdoors.

And what to do when technology fails? Lloyd Walker is your man. He comes with a background in rehabilitation engineering and has been involved in the assistive technologies sector for over 20 years. His discussion focus is on technology as well as transport for those with disability.

The expos will be held in Brisbane on May 7 and Sydney May 13-14.
