The federal government has given disability housing projects a $10 million funding boost. Community organisations can apply for funding to complete, modify or fit-out projects outside NDIS trial sites. Applicants should be incorporated, not-for-profit organisations, that are support by their local community and where appropriate are encouraged to partner with bankers or builder to ensure delivery of projects.
Accommodation will need to cater for people who are expected to be eligible for the NDIS into the future, said Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter. “Projects should have a particular focus on people currently house in inappropriate accommodation and those with ageing carers who need a long-term, sustainable arrangement. All projects should be completed with two years to help address short-term community need while the NDIS transition gets under way.”
Applications must be received by February 11, 2016.
