A unified and national approach to policy for people with disability takes another step forward. It follows the release of the Second Implementation Plan – Driving Action 2015-2018, under the National Disability Strategy. The plan is a commitment by all levels of government, industry and the community to improve outcomes for people with disability across six areas: inclusive and accessible communities; rights protection, just and legislation; economic security; personal and community support; learning and skills; and health and wellbeing.
Minister for Social Services, Christian Porter, said the strategy looks beyond the provision of disability-specific supports to ensure that the broader community and mainstream services and facilities are available and fully accessible for people with disability. This includes areas such as health, education, employment, transport, public facilities and infrastructure.
