The ACT Government is building on the capacity of Canberra’s disability sector workforce. As part of its commitment to the NDIS, the government is providing $1.27 million to National Disability Services (NDS) with projections showing that the ACT will need 1000 new disability specialist support workers through to 2018. With individuals now exercising greater control over the support they receive, the government believes it is appropriate that the workforce grows to meet those needs.
To progress this, NDS was selected as part of an open tender process due to their strong experience in workforce and sector development. Work is about to begin with NDS and the Community Services Directorate to deliver the program.
The funding was made available through the Commonwealth NDIS Sector Development Fund.
