Universal Design has announced a Call for Presentations for its third Australian conference being held in Brisbane in September. The theme for the two-day event is ‘Home and Away: Creating Inclusion Everywhere’.
In keeping with the theme, UD is seeking expressions of interest on housing, home and neighbourhood, travel, tourism, destination and events. ICT topics are also encouraged, particularly if they relate to the conference theme, however other topics will be considered within the universal design and inclusive practice concept. Submissions for presentations should show how the topic meets the principles and goals of UD and goes beyond basic access compliance.
Topics include but are not limited to:
- Housing development and design
- Neighbourhood design
- Travel and transportation
- Tourism and destinations
- Inclusive events
- Community involvement in design processes
- Accessible digital communications
The conference and presentations should be of interest to designers, architects, builders, developers, transportation, tourism, health and digital professionals, event managers, advocacy groups, access consultants and local, state and federal government personnel.
Expressions of interest should be no more than 400 words. Closing date for submissions is February 28, 2018. The conference is being held at the Brisbane Conference and Exhibition Centre on September 4-5, 2018.
