Mildura Jobs Fair – Careers in Disability
June 19, 2019
The Jobs Fair brings together potential employers with local students and people looking to make a career in disability services, and is funded by the Department of Education and Training, Victoria.
Organisations can promote their employment opportunities to local community members and students who are exploring career pathways. Key staff from Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), NDIS and Health and Community Services (HACSU) will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about the sector.
It is estimated that one in five new jobs created in the next three years will be in the disability sector and with the disability workforce predicted to grow by 40 per cent by the end of 2019 and the roll-out of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) completed in Victoria by July 1, a key concern for disability service providers is to attract and retain quality staff.
National Disability Services project coordinator, Tom Aberdeen said the previous Jobs Fairs have seen hundreds of job seekers and students attend and seek out positions advertised on the ‘Jobs Boards’.
“A significant number of attendees have left with further meetings and job interviews arranged.”
The fair is free for exhibitors and job seekers, with door prizes being drawn throughout the event.
It will be held on Wednesday, June 19, from 10:00am to 2:00pm at ‘The Hub,’ Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, Mildura.
