The growing popularity of basketball has led Disability Sports Australia (DSA) and Basketball Australia (BA) to build the discipline of Wheelchair Basketball nationally.
A working group has been formed to review and provide recommendations for improving the sports management and governance. This is intended to strengthen local and national competitions including identification and pathways along with membership and feedback from the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation.
Broad consultation is critical to the review with administrators and participants invited to complete a survey on how Wheelchair Basketball should be administered and promoted to ensure a strong future. See survey details below.
DSA chief executive, Jenni Cole said she was looking forward to establishing a new era and having more international competitions in Australia. “Our wheelchair basketball players are among the best in the world on a consistent basis,” she said.
