A series of informative seminars on a wide range of topics has been announced for ATSA 2015. One speaker making his first visit to Australia is Dr Mark Richter, president of Max Mobility. Richter has been active in the rehabilitation field for many years in the U.S. and his research interests include wheelchair design, propulsion technique, wheelchair setup, adaptive exercise equipment and recreational technologies. An adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Vanderbilt University he will speak at both the Sydney and Brisbane events on ‘Shoulder pain is an epidemic: Let’s talk about what we can do about it!’
Another speaker presenting at both events is Dr Lloyd Walker, managing director of Tech4Life. Walker is chair of the Assistive Technology Products Committee of Standards Australia. His topic at ATSA is ‘What to do when technology fails.’
The ATSA Independent Living Expos are the biggest showcase of products and services for the people with disability, their families, carers and health professionals. It will be held in Brisbane on May 7 and in Sydney May 13-14.
