The ATSA Independent Living Expo in Perth is a premier industry event for the disability sector that offers attendees a two-day educational program and a supplier exhibition showcasing new products, services and industry developments.
The Expo features training and educational sessions for occupational therapists, health care professionals and consumers from Clinical Instruction and Assistive Technology (AT) Developments to Product Innovations, Clinical Plenary and Consumer Services.
Among the presentations on Day 1 are: Tips for Clinicians Submitting AT Applications through the NDIS (National Occupational Therapy); Complex Mobility Solutions for High Level Spinal Cord Injuries (Fiona Stanley Hospital) and results from a new service delivering AT technology peer monitoring to AT users (AT Chat Living Labs). The Consumer Session will focus on: The Physical, Social and Psychosocial Benefits of Playing Wheelchair Sport (Invacare); while the Clinical Instruction Session addresses the ‘Battle for Voice Control Supremacy’ (Indigo).
The Clinical Plenary is about Taking a Stand: Overcoming Obstacles to Improve Outcomes (Permobil).
Day 2 highlights include: Product Innovations in Mobile Shower Commode Chair Design, (Raz Design Inc); Wearable Technology Innovations for People with Vision and Literary Impairments (Quantum Reading & Learning Vision) and How to Choose the Right Personal Alarm (Guardian Safety Pendants).
There will also be an ARATA presentation on What Assistive Technology Can Do For You?
Among the Clinical Instruction presentations are: Aquatic Therapy and Transfer Tips for Caregivers (Para Mobility); Bariatric Seating and Mobility Considerations (Quantum Rehab) and Prescribing Dynamic Manual Wheelchairs for Function and Independence (Linds Rehabilitation Equipment).
