The second ATSNZ Disability Expo has been billed a ‘resounding success’ from visitors, speakers, exhibitors and supporters alike. The free-to-attend exhibition and conference was held over two days in Auckland recently.
The expo is New Zealand’s leading national exhibition for disability and aged care equipment and services, held in partnership with Assistive Technology Suppliers New Zealand which represents key suppliers of products and services from the industry, and organised by Interpoint Events.
CharleyWrap, Changing Places NZ owner, Jenn Hooper said: “As a first-time exhibitor, I was blown away by the number of visitors and would definitely recommend this national disability event to anyone”.
With more than 50 exhibitors participating the event attracted visitors from throughout New Zealand and from as far away as Dunedin. There were over 1,000 attendees over the two days and included allied health professionals, people with disability, carers and families. The aisles were busy with many exhibitors reporting a steady stream of enquiries from end-users to funding agencies.
According to Interpoint Events managing director, Simon Cooper it has been a difficult two years with the Covid pandemic and resulting postponement of the event twice. “We were pleased to finally deliver our national event and the number of visitors from throughout New Zealand have helped to cement the expo as New Zealand’s premier national event for the disability sector. We were also very appreciative to Auckland Unlimited for their support of the event”.
He said dates for 2022 will be announced soon.
The free education seminars were also very popular, opened via a live video link by Disability Issues Minister, Carmel Sepuloni. The education seminars were well attended too, with Dating Life in a Wheelchair, presented by Juliana Carvalho, who gave a humorous and informative presentation on her journey of sexual discovery after becoming paraplegic, proving to be a crowd pleaser.
The next ATSA Expo will be held in Canberra on October 27-28. For details email: info@interpointevents.com.au
