It was fun and games for a group of Australians at the 25th Anniversary of the International Frame Running Camp & Cup, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
There were six Australians, the largest team to date, competing from July 15-17, and the medals came fast, with all athletes performing well and setting a personal best in at least one of their events. The athletes, aged from 8 to 57 years, all have a physical disability with impaired balance. They joined 160 international competitors at the event, with Dejay Medical there to support the local team.
Maria Strong from Victoria won Bronze in the Senior 100m and Gold in the 1500m, the latter in a new world record time. Kim Neuenkirchen from NSW took out Silver in the 1500m and Silver in the 400m; Queenslander Isabella Auld, won Gold in the 40m and Silver in the 60m; Thomas Mattinson from South Australia, pictured, added to his medal haul taking Gold in the U14 100m, 60m, 200m and 400m and Arran Keith from NSW won Gold in the U14 800m and Silver in the 200m. Now it’s on to the next big event in the Frame Running calendar, when Australia will host its first Camp & Cup in Brisbane from September 30 until October 2, 2022. The camp will cater for everyone, from beginners to current athletes who recently returned from the international camp.
Founder of Frame Running, Connie Hansen will be attending from Denmark, while coach Dr Sarah Redman will share her research into the sport.
