Ken Baker, Sally Richards and Bill Moss have each been recognised for their services to the disability sector. Ken Baker, one of the driving forces behind the NDIS, has been named a member of the Order of Australia; Sally Richards, co-founder of the Canberra Getting a Life Intentional Community Co-operative has been awarded the Order of Australia Medal; Bill Moss has been made an Officer of the Order of Australia. The former Macquarie Bank executive has facioscapulohumeral dystrophy or FSHD and set up the FSHD Global Research Foundation in 2007.
Associate Professor Jim Patrick has been awarded the Order of Australia. He is chief scientist at Cochlear Limited and helped developed the Cochlear implant that enables deaf people to hear.
