Visitors and residents should not miss Biennale Sydney. The event, titled rivus, meaning stream in Latin, is the theme of the exhibition.

There are over 330 artworks, the largest contemporary art show in Australia that take in the Art Gallery of NSW, the Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Art School, the Walsh Bay Arts Precinct and for the first time The Cutaway at Bangaroo.

An immersive installation in an outdoor marquee is the Great Animal Orchestra with a soundscape of 15,000 animal species from terrestrial and marine natural habitats. Another interactive work is One Beat, One Tree at the Art Gallery of NSW that invites audiences to plant a virtual tree with a real tree planted for each virtual one, (pictured).

The National Art School has a possum skin cloak, a collaborative work made by First Nations Community Elders, descendants of survivors of the Myall Creek massacre.

All venues are wheelchair accessible although a couple of outdoor spaces could be tricky in a downpour. Entry is free, and it runs until June 13. For more information visit: www.biennaleofsydney.art
