The 11th National Deafblind Conference with its theme ‘Deafblind Keeping Connected through Covid and beyond’ will have a mix of keynote presentations, panel discussions and workshops covering a broad range of topics. The conference is designed to connect and reconnect people with deaf blindness and those who support them across Australia.
There will be two pre-conference workshops based on stories and experiences of those living and working with CHARGE syndrome and Usher syndrome. The CHARGE presentations are about the social model of disability that recognise with the right support, a person with disability can live the life they choose. The Usher syndrome workshop will consist of five presentations by members of the Usher syndrome community.
The conference will be held at the Esplanade Hotel, Fremantle, WA from June 30 to July 1, 2022.
Pre-conference sessions are on June 29. The event will be offered virtually for those unable to attend with conference hubs in Melbourne and Newcastle.
