Looking for something completely different when it comes to transport for people with disability?

The Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) is seeking expressions of interest from people with a disability who live in Sydney to have a say in developing solutions for autonomous shuttles.

The initiative, which also includes looking over designs or prototype ideas, is part of a research project from the Centre for Technology Infusion at La Trobe University. The trial, which takes place at Sydney Olympic Park, comprises three small focus groups and participants must be available for all three which will take place from August to October, with dates to be confirmed.

The first will be a one-hour online information session for all participants to be held in late August, when background information will be provided. It is followed by a session with input on proposals or design solutions, that will run in early to mid-September. The final session involves an autonomous shuttle trial at Sydney Olympic Park with the aim of trying prototypes from feedback on the experience of riding in the shuttle. This will take place in early to mid-October 2022.

Taking part in this research study is optional and all information given will be de-identified. All focus group participants will be remunerated for their time, including travel time, at a rate agreed beforehand.
