The eighth public hearing of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability is now underway.
The inaugural First Nations hearing is being held in Brisbane from 23 to 27 November, 2020 and is exploring the extent to which culturally appropriate and accessible supports are provided to First Nations people with disability.

Chair Ronald Sackville is joined by Commissioner Alastair McEwin from the Royal Commission’s hearing room in Sydney, while Commissioner Andrea Mason and Commissioner Roslyn Atkinson are sitting in the Brisbane hearing room headquarters. Senior Counsel assisting the Royal Commission is Lincoln Crowley only the second First Nations lawyer in Australia to be designated as senior counsel.
