A state-of-the-art and fantasy-themed playground has opened in Berwick, Melbourne.
The play space and reserve was developed by Stockland in collaboration with children’s charity Variety and designed by Urban Edge to cater for children and families of all abilities.
True to its name, the park is intended to ignite young imaginations, with the design including a castle with an Excalibur sword set in stone, a gnome house and adjacent mushroom area, multiple slides and a life-size steel ‘climbing’ horse.
The play space also hosts an array of accessible features, such as a quiet space complete with tee pees, all-access walkways and shaded accessible swings.
Adjacent to the playground is Hilltop Park, featuring an artwork ‘Calling of Creation’ by prominent Indigenous artist Robert Michael Young which tells a Dreamtime story. With elevated views over the Stockland Minta community and across the wider Berwick local area, the park hosts multiple features for users to enjoy.
The community also has access to double electric BBQs, free Wi-Fi, facilities for community events as well as powered outdoor workstations.
The fantasy playground will be named by residents of Stockland Minta following a community naming competition.
