Children and Young People with Disability Australia want your input into recent plans for changes to the NDIS.
The organisation is seeking views on the announcement of a new growth target for the NDIS, as to what you would change about the way the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) manages spending and your experiences with the NDIS?
The Federal Government is looking at a new growth target for the NDIS of eight per cent a year by 2026, which is significantly lower than previous projections.
In a statement CYDA said it found this announcement concerning.
Any major change to the NDIS should put the rights and needs of people with disability first and they should be done in consultation with people with disability and their representative organisations. Children and young people with disability represent more than half of NDIS participants, yet our community and the entire disability community was not consulted before the announcement. Also that the government has not provided details on how they plan to meet their target.
The independent NDIS Review is due to release its final report in October 2023. Any major decisions regarding the NDIS budget made before the recommendations of the review are known are premature and may impact the NDIA’s capacity to enact the changes we need, the statement said.
