It’s taken 84 years but lifts, and possibly ramps, will be installed on the Sydney Harbour Bridge in 2017. It is good news for wheelchair users, those with prams and the elderly who will be able to access the pedestrian walkway from the northern end of the bridge without having to climb 60+ stairs.
It’s also good news for cyclists with NSW Roads Minister, Duncan Gay, expected to announce progress on ramp access later this year, so cyclists can avoid having to approach the bike path on the bridge via 64 steps.
