Variety Children’s Charity has rolled out its first merchandising campaign via its website.
The organisiation has 200 limited edition prints of ‘Madi’s Elephant’ which is part of the Project Unleash video campaign launched last year.
The original painting was to be auctioned at a fund-raising event delayed due to Covid. A gala ball is scheduled to be held in Newcastle with details to be confirmed.
Sometimes it can be hard to see beyond a child’s disability and Variety believes there is magic in every child, just waiting to be shown to the world. Variety challenged artist Tara Winona to help unleash the true personality of 12-year-old Madi. And she only had one week to do it!
According to Winona, the concept was to capture a child living with numerous disabilities through an artist’s eyes – the result is the amazing elephant that emerges from swirls of water colour and acrylic inks that bring her love of nature to the fore. Winona described her paintings of wildlife as ‘self-portraits’ that tell a story.
Each window mounted print comes with a letter of authenticity, certified as a genuine Tara Winona limited edition, archival art print created from the original painting.
Winona has exhibited her work in the UK, Europe and Australia and Covid permitting, intends splitting her time between studios in London and The Headlands artists precinct in Sydney, where she creates paintings to raise funds for charities she feels strongly about.
The ‘Madi Elephant’ prints are available in three sizes: A3 – $150; A2 – $275 and A1- $550. A portion of the sale from each print goes to the Variety Children’s Charity – to help more kids like Madi.
