Wests Tigers and Beyondblue have joined forces to address mental health issues. The football club will be Beyondblue’s exclusive NRL partner in New South Wales for the next three years and will work together on a range of projects. These include delivering mental health programs both within the club and with supporters.
Beyondblue chairman Jeff Kennett said evidence shows that men are far less likely to see help for mental health conditions than women and three times more likely to die by suicide. “This partnership provides a great outlet to reach out through the familiar environment of the NRL,” he said. Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said the partnership allows the club to use its position as an NRL team to raise awareness of depression, anxiety and suicide prevention and to reduce associated stigma.
