The National Disability Insurance Scheme is now benefiting more than 13,000 people with disability. According to new data, this represents 85 per cent of bilateral targets which is up from 81 per cent from the previous quarterly report. The average cost of each care package is $34,900 which is below the full scheme average of $36,750 while participant satisfaction levels remain “very high.”
Assistant Minister for Social Services, Mitch Fifield, said $754 million has been committed to fund services for people with disability to live more independently. The NDIS is currently operating in seven trial sites with an Australia-wide transition starting from July 2016.
