NSW based arts disability organisation, Accessible Arts has added new services and training designed to give businesses the opportunity to increase culture, accessibility and inclusion for people with disability.
Among these is a new workshop, Delivering Accessible Online Events together with an updated version of its Disability Confidence Training workshops.
The Delivering Accessible Online Events workshop provides practical solutions and ‘easy wins’ for delivering accessible online performances, online exhibitions, online rehearsals and creative developments, webinars, panel discussions, online meetings and social media. There are two options available either booking into one of the public workshops or private sessions that can be live or online, with a group discount for three or more attendees.
A Disability Confidence Training workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to understanding disability in the context of arts, culture and events. Trainers have ‘lived experience’ of disability to deliver an authentic edge to training.
Workshops are suitable for artists, arts organisations, festivals, venues, event organisers and Not-for-profit and government agencies.
In addition to the workshops is a consulting service developed to make programming, services, venue and digital content more accessible and appealing for people with disability. These include: Website Audits & Digital Accessibility; Access Audits; Accessible Content Management; and Disability Inclusion Action Plans (DIAPs).
According to business development manager, Natalee Thomas, Covid has shaken up the arts, culture and events sector and the impact will be long-lasting, not just in terms of online activities but also in relation to safe and inclusive spaces as well as policy and planning.
“Now is a great opportunity to future proof your business by taking some steps to provide a better experience in your workplace for artists, workers, audiences and visitors with disability, while making our community a place where everyone feels they belong,” she said.
The NSW based group has over 33 years’ experience in helping organisations improve their accessibility.
The 90-minute workshops are delivered via Zoom and closed captioning and Auslan interpreting are available on request. Private sessions are also available and can be designed, created and delivered in-house or online at a venue of choice in Sydney or regional areas or at its office in The Rocks, Sydney.
The next workshop dates are March 3 and April 7, 2021.
