A tool to help people with Intellectual Disability recognise and regulate their thoughts and feeling is now available. Developed by the Black Dog Institute the resource is aimed at adults with mild to borderline ID.
There are five learning modules available: Breathe and Relax; Tackling Unhelpful Thinking; Having More Fun; Taming Anger and Recognising Feelings. Each module is structured within a – Learn About It, Watch It and Do It framework.
Topics can be accessed in any order and parts of a program that have been the most helpful can be revisited.
The benefits of Healthy Mind include free access with content based on approaches used by doctors and psychologists, providing support when face-to-face therapy is not available or accessible. However, it can be used in conjunction with face-to-face therapy.
