A new podcast, NDIS Know-how, has been launched to help NDIS participants get a better understanding of new funding changes as well as assist them with their NDIS plan.
“Every parent and person navigating the NDIS knows that it’s complex, ever-changing and, at times, a total mind-screw,” NDIS Know-how host Melanie Dimmitt and mother to Arlo who has autism said. “Preparing for a NDIS plan meeting is a mammoth task. I hope this podcast will help to take the edge off this process, arm parents with tools to advocate for their children to secure supports their family needs.”
Dimmitt will also speak with parents and professionals in the disability space to gather stories, tips and tools on how to successfully navigate the NDIS.
According to Hireup co-CEO Jordan O’Reilly the podcast series which the organisation is sponsoring, will be an invaluable resource for parents of children in the NDIS. “Growing up alongside a brother who had cerebral palsy I understand that good and sufficient supports are essential for a family to function and thrive. This podcast will help families access those supports. It’s an informative, upbeat companion that every parent navigating the NDIS on behalf of their child needs to have.”
He said this is the first step in moving on from debating whether the NDIS is a cost Australia can afford. “It’s a pillar of our economy and an investment in the kind of society we all want to live in. The podcast is an important tool in helping Australians living with a disability and their families understand what those funding changes might mean for them and how they can best access this life-changing funding.”
