A purple sign with the word NDIS in white written on it. It sits in a garden bed in front of a purple sloping wall.

New rules for plan management mean the NDIS may make changes to your plan.

Earlier this month the agency announced new rules around unreasonable risk in how participant funding is managed. These rules mean the NDIS can decide if there is an unreasonable risk in how funds are being managed, and make changes to the funds’ management.

The organisation says it will look at other supports for participants before making changes, and will explain to participants why the changes are being made. Participants who don’t agree can request a review.

Other rules clarify how the NDIS can vary or reasses a participant’s plan. Participants may still ask for updates to their plan at any time, and plans can still be changed by:

  • plan variations, where small changes can be made without replacing your whole plan
  • plan reassessments, which are full reviews that create a new plan with a new end date.
