Physical Disability Council of NSW is running a series of online workshops in July. The workshops will be run via Zoom by skilled peer facilitators with lived experience of disability, in a safe and inclusive environment. Individualised follow up support will be available at the conclusion of the workshops to assist with specific goals or other help that might be needed.
Individual support to access and use Zoom prior to the workshops is also available if needed.
The first workshop is: Self-Advocacy – Speaking Up For Your Rights on July 22:
This free workshop is an opportunity to learn more about how to speak up for your rights and advocate for yourself. The workshop will cover: what self-advocacy is, how to do it when you might need it and the best ways to communicate. Gaining clarity and building self-confidence will be discussed as will the many contexts or environments when speaking up for yourself and standing up for your rights. These could include with family, friends, service providers, healthcare professionals and more.
The second workshop is: NDIS Self-Management on July 28:
This workshop, provides an opportunity to learn more about what self-managing your NDIS plan means. The workshop will cover: understanding the benefits of self-management, clarifying what you can spend your money on, providing information on how to make a payment request, suggestions on how to keep records and supports to help you do this. This workshop is designed for participants who already have an NDIS plan and are either already self-managing or considering self-managing.
