Sydney community organisation Plumtree is launching Our Library, a children’s book by author and illustrator Donna Rawlins that acknowledges inclusion in libraries. The story follows Suzy, a children’s librarian, who plans fun activities for multicultural families and children of all abilities.
Rawlins will host a storytime reading of her book with children at the launch that councillor Khal Asfour, City of Canterbury-Bankstown mayor and Plumtree CEO, Sylvana Mahmic will also attend.
The book is a part of Community Connectors a project by Plumtree Children’s Services with NSW public libraries. It provides training, mentorship and resources for 120 staff from 10 local government areas to enrich the library experience for families of children with a disability or developmental delay.
All public libraries with a children’s area will receive a free copy of the book.
Launch details: March 25, 2022: 11:00am–12:30pm; Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre, 80 Rickard Road, Bankstown. RSVP by March 21 by email to: anne@plumtree.org.au
