Race Running is an innovative activity for both recreation and sport. Suited to people with impaired balance and unable to functionally run, regardless of age. An opportunity to enjoy this activity is with the Running Bike, a three-wheeled bike where the runner is fully supported by a saddle and chest support that enables them to propel themselves forward safely and steer with their hands.
Ideal for both recreation and sport the Running Bike has no pedals which supports the user either walking or running. It can be used by people of all ages for recreation and sport at a variety of levels.
The Running Bike is a very effective way of improving overall fitness, strength and well-being and can be used by children from 3-4 years through to adulthood. It is predominantly suitable for those with cerebral palsy, although it is also suitable for those with muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease and other disabilities that affect mobility and balance.
Race Running is an international disability sport for age groups from 3-73 years in which children and adults compete with running bikes on an athletics track. Events range from 40m to 3000m. Competitors are classified based on their disability and race against other competitors in their class.
