The school holidays are almost here and MyCareSpace has compiled a national calendar of inclusive school holiday activities and camps. The holidays give children with disability the opportunity to share in fun experiences in an environment with appropriate support and allow family and carers the chance to spend time with children in a relaxed atmosphere.

The Music Workshop at Sydney Olympic Park is a fun and engaging interactive music workshop specifically designed for children with special needs. Bring siblings to have fun and bond with one another through music and rhythm. You don’t need to go away to have a great holiday during the school break as Sunnyfield’s Hotshots has everything for loads of fun close to home with a selection of activities for children aged 6 – 12 and young people aged 12 – 17.
Pinarc in Victoria has a series of recreational and social programs and activities for children and teenagers around swimming, cooking and day trips and also four day camps scheduled during the holidays. Adelaide is running the Living Arts program for those with complex needs as well as introducing back-to-back workshops for kids, tweens and teens in its new Living Arts Studios. Sessions include a supervised lunch for those attending both.
Autism Alliance WA have programs for three to 15 year olds to help them learn vital social skills, explore new subjects and interact naturally around several themes including science, art, music, trains and more.
Vacation Care in Brisbane offers a community-based program for children and young people with disability, aged five to 18 years, with a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities that include cooking, sports, pretend/sensory/water and outdoor play as well as themed days and community outings.
For a totally inclusive drumming experience head for Keep the Beat drumming workshops that are designed to suit a mixture of ages being held in various locations across Tasmania.
The Communities@Work Malkara program is the ACT’s first integrated school holiday care service for children with disability or high support needs. The program caters for individual requirements, interests and general wellbeing.
The Sony Foundation holiday camps for children with special needs are being held in all states with other national activities also being organised by Disability Sports and Recreation and the YMCA.
