New England disability services provider Sunnyfield will host its 7th annual indoor sports day for people with disability on Wednesday, August 14 at the Tamworth Sports Dome Centre.
The indoor sports day is an annual highlight for participants, many of whom travel from as far afield as Narrabri, Gunnedah, Armidale, Inverell and Glen Innes.
Sunnyfield regional manager Ada Maughan said people in the New England region and beyond living with disability are always excited about the Sunnyfield Sports Day.
“This annual event supports people with disability to mingle, get out there and have some fun whilst improving their health,” she said.
“Tamworth’s sporting official, Simon Hood is judging the best and fairest and we even have competitors coming from our site in Muswellbrook this year – it’s just getting bigger and better every year.”
This year the event is set to host over 120 people with disability from the New England and Hunter regions, providing them with an opportunity to get actively involved in both individual and team events such as javelin, soccer, egg and spoon races and the giant tunnel ball race.
