Author and World Para Surfing champion, Sam Bloom, and the inspiration for the move, Penguin Bloom, starring Naomi Watts, will be a guest speaker at the Sydney Disability Expo, on August 5.

Bloom will share her story about how a baby magpie helped her face life in wheelchair following an accident in Thailand that left her paralysed. The global ambassador for Wings or Life, works with numerous spinal cord injury charities to help find a cure for spinal cord injury.

The Sydney expo will have over 200 services and product exhibitors including government organisations, financial and legal services, social and leisure options, transport and vehicles. There will also be entertainment for children with live, all-ability performances.

The expo format allows for a large range of organisations to be viewed and visited by patrons in an accessible manner and within a short timeframe.

To make the Disability Expo even more accessible, organisers the Impact Institute, have partnered with wayfinding and navigation company Bindi Maps. Inside the expo, BindiMaps will provide accurate navigation and guidance to all individual exhibitor booths in the space, as well as to bathrooms, information desks, registration, food outlets and other locations.

Past expo ambassadors include Paralympic gold-medalist Ellie Cole, blind motorcyclist Ben Felten, Bali Bombing survivor Ben Tulipan and Afghanistan veteran, McQuilty Quirke.

The Sydney Disability Expo will be held at Olympic Park on August 5-6. Entry is free.
