Disability activist, writer and comedian Stella Young has died suddenly. She was 32. In a statement Assistant Minister for Social Services, Mitch Fifield, described Young as a role model for Australians with disability on how to seize opportunity and never take no for an answer.
“Stella had a generosity of spirit and taught many Members of Parliament, including myself, a great deal.”
Young was born with the genetic disorder osteogenesis imperfecta that causes bones to break easily. She was on a number of boards and committees including the Victorian Disability Advisory Council and Women with Disabilities Victoria.
