Workers living with a disability or experiencing other barriers to employment are being given a pathway to a new career through the Andrews Labor Government’s Boost Your Business Voucher program.

Minister for Disability, Ageing and Carers Luke Donnellan visited Ability Works, one of more than 200 Victorian businesses to benefit from the program.

Donnellan said people living with disability can and want to work, and the new Entrepreneurs with Disability stream of Boost Your Business is helping that happen.

“We are leading the way nationally in helping create employment opportunities for people living with a disability and supporting social enterprises like Ability Works,” he said.

Ability Works is a social enterprise that helps Victorians living with a disability find meaningful, ongoing jobs by working with businesses to set up flexible arrangements.

The Labor Government has invested $24,800 through round one of the Boost Your Business program to help them launch a temporary fencing project.

Under Boost Your Business, small to medium sized businesses can apply for vouchers worth up to $50,000 to develop new products and services.

Boost Your Business is now in its second year and more than $6 million worth of vouchers have been funded.

The latest round opened last week and for the first time includes the Entrepreneurs with Disability stream to help business owners with a disability grow their business.

Applications close on Sunday 12 May 2019. For more information go to business.vic.gov.au/boost-your-business.
