Virtual musical festival WhiteStickFest is taking blind and low-vision artists on the road for a one-off performance in the Law Foyer at Sydney University on October 20.

WhiteStickFest is an online collaboration of music artists supporting International White Cane Day that celebrates the achievements of blind and low-vision community members.

WhiteStickFest co-founder Jordan Ashby, said the event has enabled its team of volunteers to connect blind, low-vision and sighted music artists to communities worldwide, with world-class performances that are accessible and inclusive to those with a device and internet connection.

“We would like to provide an opportunity for our emerging artists to hone their craft and feel a connection with a live audience. I am hopeful that both the artists and audiences enjoy this experience at the university,” he said.

The 3-hour Sydney event starts at 12.30 pm and will feature performances from blind and low-vision artists Lara Nakhle from The Voice 2017, Connor Wink from The Voice 2022, Summer Giddings and soprano Kirsten Busby.

The free ticket entry will give visitors the option to ride a complimentary Vision Australia-funded shuttle bus from Sydney’s Central Station.
