Youngcare is again sponsoring the Accessibility Stage at BIGSOUND2023 music event a showcase of up-and-coming musicians at Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley’s live music precinct from September 5-8.
The Youngcare Accessibility Stage at the Outpost Bar has wheelchair access, Auslan interpreters and chill out zones. In a first for the event, new wireless, tactile haptic vests developed in collaboration by Music: Not Impossible and Newmarket Collective will also be on hand so those with hearing difficulties can feel the music vibrations flow through their body in perfect time, providing a state-of-the-art, high-definition surround sensory experience.
The Outpost Bar will host trending artists including Joan & the Giants, Komang, Oscar the Wild, Jungaji, The Dandys and many more emerging acts.
“The lack of accessibility at several events and venues is an ongoing issue, preventing many people with disability from getting out and feeling welcome in our community,” Youngcare CEO Greg Johnson said. “The Youngcare Accessibility Stage is creating a new standard for accessibility in the music industry.’’
Brisbane musician Tim McCallum is Youngcare Accessibility stage ambassador again this year. “We are setting a benchmark for accessibility at events and I’m excited to work alongside Youngcare to pave the way to a new normal,” he said.
